Hello, my name is Nikki and I am the mother of two sons as well as the wife of a patient husband. In our Victorian home, I manage my passion for interior design, blogging, Instagram and Pinterest “addiction,” and family life with my full-time profession as an architect. My interests include interior design and blogging, which provide much-needed stress relief in my otherwise hectic life.
My interest in interior design began when I was in college. I started into furniture refurbishing while studying for a Master’s degree at the same time. During the winter, I might be found in my father’s very cold garage peeling paint off furniture and then painting and waxing it to bring it back to its former glory. I still have every piece of furniture, despite the fact that I’ve been moving it across the nation for years.
My excitement at the prospect of doing some actual decorating, tearing down walls, and generally transforming this property into a family home began when we purchased it. I’d rather live in a house with individuality where nothing is valuable than in a monotonous beige box. When the kids came along, we contemplated making it more practical. Most significantly, despite the fact that they are two loud boys, none of my children has destroyed a single object, demonstrating that you can live in the house of your choice even with very young children.
So, thank you for visiting. The purpose of this blog is to share ideas and inspiration, as well as to inspire others to demonstrate their creative abilities. As part of this series, I’ll be sharing ideas on how I’ve created rooms in my home, and new decorating projects, as well as sharing some of my favorite suppliers and some guest homes that have inspired me. Most importantly, I’ll be trying to encourage those of you who have children that you can have the home of your dreams, complete with chocolate fingerprinted velvet couch and all.
